Fast, low-tuned deathcore from South AFrica
Ghast is a deathcore band from Gqeberha, South Africa. Their sound draws on low-tuned deathcore, death metal, and hardcore, with touches of thrash, grind, and metalcore. Lyrically, the band explores themes of environmental collapse and the weight of life under systems of austerity, institutional oppression, and social hatred rooted in misinterpreted religious values and class warfare.
Formed in 2021, Ghast has sought to create heavy music that carries meaning as well as impact. After releasing their debut album Dawn, a split EP with Boiling Point, and several singles, they turned their focus to live performance, building a community of listeners who connected with their uncompromising approach.
The band’s new album, Fear Is The Blessing, is now available via Bandcamp. It includes the singles “Tar Dance”, “Deepen The Grave”, and “There’s No Room” featuring Jay from Doomtrigger. Ghast remains dedicated to making music that reflects both their influences and their lived experiences, and they are grateful for the continued support of those who listen and share in that journey.
See you on the road in 2026.
